When 2012 Philadelphia Marathon Champion Michael McKeeman first started running, he was one of the slowest runners on his high school cross country team.  But he was motivated to improve, never settling for his current spot on the team.  Patience, perseverance, and hard work paid off as he finished his senior year as the team’s number 1 runner.

After high school Mike moved on to the University of North Carolina where he made the school’s cross country team as a walk on.  Again he had to work his way up from the bottom, consistently finishing 11th out of 12 runners on the team his freshman year.  By his junior year Mike had established himself as one of the top distance runners in the ACC, running the fastest time in the conference for the 3000m steeplechase.

Following his stint at UNC, Mike jumped into the post-collegiate running scene and initially struggled to win local races and compete on the national scene.  Mike continued to work hard and move up the ranks just as he had done at each previous level of his running career.  He eventually earned a spot training with the Mammoth Track Club, where he trained alongside Olympians like Deena Kastor and Ryan Hall.  After qualifying for the Olympic Marathon Trials in 2008 and 2012, Mike’s running career culminated with a victory at the 2012 Philadelphia Marathon.

Through hard work and smart, focused training Mike enjoyed sustained periods of improvement and success while growing into one of the best marathon runners in the country. Now Mike is bringing that same knowledge, motivation, and work ethic to you with his customized training programs.  By running like Mike you too can see noticeable improvement and achieve your running goals!
